I grew up in Vancouver in a household where there was a lot of illness. Art and creativity was a world I could escape to where everything was healthy. I went there a lot. This healthiness and pleasure is something I still try to imbue in my work and process today. I think through creativity and art the truth about things; yourself, life, what you really want and want to say and the way you think comes up in sometimes obvious and mostly surprising ways. It can take a while to get and appreciate, but when it hits it is a jarring feeling of coming home.
